Luke Midgley

Luke is our Senior Team Leader at Blacktown International Sports Park who’s team look after our AFL and cricket ovals. Luke has worked with us since 2019 and ensures our fields are always in top condition. 

Luke used to play cricket semi-professionally, but when realised that he wouldn't make it to the big leagues, he decided to channel his love for the game into maintaining the grounds.

Our facilities include 32 practice wickets and 14 wickets across 2 ovals, plus additional wickets at our other venue.

A typical day involves cutting and rolling the cricket wickets and preparing the fields. On game days, Luke and his team mark up the fields and get everything ready for play. 'I'm fortunate to work with a dedicated team that always give their best'.

One of Luke's career highlights was preparing the wickets for the India and Australia men's cricket teams during their two-week training here at the sports park. It was an incredible experience to see our hard work showcased on such a grand stage.

What Luke love's most about his job is being outdoors and creating surfaces that sometimes make it to TV. It's a rewarding feeling to see the results of our efforts being appreciated by players and fans alike.
